About The Position

Position Summary: The Project Accounting Specialist performs day-to-day accounting functions for Seaward Services, Inc. under the direction of the Senior Accountant. Duties and Responsibilities: Perform general monthly accounting tasks in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) to include accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit card reconciliations and expense report processing. Ensure accurate and timely month-end and year-end close processes. Conduct timely reviews and reconciliations of balance sheet accounts. Prepare and submit monthly billings and other government agency-approved invoices across various contract types. Ensure compliance with government contracts and funding. Provide budget and forecasting support for projects. Provide audit support. Serve as a high-level contributor, handling complex accounting issues. Prepare various ad hoc reports and perform other duties as needed. Perform additional job duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting required.
  • 2-3 years of accounting experience preferred.
  • Accounting experience with federal government contracting desired.
  • Public accounting experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel required; experience with all Microsoft Office applications preferred.
  • Experience with SAP Concur and Deltek Costpoint software preferred.
  • Strong ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines across various projects.
  • Strong attention to detail with exceptional organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with shifting priorities.
  • Proactive thinker with a problem-solving mindset, dedicated to improving processes and service for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Adaptability and a positive attitude when facing changes in direction or priorities.
