About The Position

Destiny Management Services, LLC is a leading source of staffing services and business solutions to the Federal Government. Founded in 1996, we have provided job opportunities for more than 1000 employees nationwide in various fields. We are a unique Small Business that provides business solutions to the Federal Government, specifically military medical staffing. At present our nearly 300 employees, provide support staff to over 40 Military Medical Facilities nationwide. We are looking for a Professional Accountant with Small Business Government contracting experience. As a Destiny professional you will work in our home office (Silver Spring, MD) to assist the Controller with payroll management, timesheet reviews/compliance and other accounting duties as assigned. Well qualified candidates will be detail oriented, analytical, have problem-solving skills, and are flexible, willing to learn. The Staff Accountant is responsible for executing the day-to-day accounting operations of Destiny Management, LLC. This role ensures accurate transaction processing, timely reconciliations, billing execution, payroll coordination, and maintenance of complete financial documentation in accordance with internal controls and government contracting standards. The Staff Accountant operates within financial systems and processes established by the Fractional Controller and CFO and does not carry strategic or enterprise-level financial responsibility.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years’ experience as an Accountant
  • Payroll processing experience – Paylocity specifically
  • Excel (intermediate experience), Microsoft products, Word
  • QuickBooks experience in AIR; AIP
  • Account Reconciliation; Journal entry prep
  • Government Contracting
  • Executive knowledge of accounting principles
  • Basic knowledge of Small Business
  • Basic knowledge of Government Contracting
  • BS Degree or higher

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Small Business Contracting Specifically Wide Area Workflow (WAWF) preferred
  • Masters preferred
  • CPA/candidate preferred

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and post journal entries; maintain general ledger integrity.
  • Perform monthly reconciliations (bank, AR, AP, payroll, credit cards).
  • Process accounts payable and maintain vendor records.
  • Prepare customer invoices in coordination with Contracts.
  • Monitor accounts receivable and support collections follow-up.
  • Coordinate payroll processing and validate payroll documentation.
  • Maintain organized financial records supporting all transactions.
  • Support monthly close in accordance with defined close calendar.
  • Adhere to segregation of duties standards.
  • Ensure documentation supports all financial entries.
  • Maintain audit-ready files at all times.
  • Escalate discrepancies immediately to the Fractional Controller.
  • Support government contracting documentation requirements.
  • Contracts – ensure billing aligns with contract terms.
  • Operations – validate cost allocations and labor charging accuracy.
  • HR – coordinate payroll data inputs.
