About The Position

As a Staff Accountant at Central Valley Ag, you will be responsible for recording the cost of newly acquired fixed assets, tracking existing fixed assets, recording depreciation and accounting for the disposition of fixed assets. You will also be responsible for carrying out the administrative, service, planning, and accounting.

Requirements

  • A minimum of an Associate’s degree in Accounting, Business or Finance and/or two to four years equivalent experience required.
  • Ability to multi-task several assignments simultaneously and establish job priorities.
  • Employ fundamental accounting skills: general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable and account reconciliations.
  • To consistently meet internal and external deadlines.
  • Strong competencies in computer applications including Microsoft products.
  • Manages a variety of responsibilities in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Follows through with commitments and can be counted on to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Create and monitor a system of controls, procedures, and forms for the recording of fixed assets.
  • Record acquisitions, transfers and disposals of fixed assets in the accounting system.
  • Maintain and update detailed schedules of fixed assets and accumulated depreciation.
  • Assign and track asset tag numbers.
  • Calculate depreciation for all fixed assets and record appropriate journal entries.
  • Prepare monthly account reconciliations for fixed assets and assist in period-end closing.
  • Manage the fixed asset verification process. Recommends to management whether fixed assets should be disposed of.
  • Track capital expenditures against budget and management authorizations.
  • Prepare annual personal property tax forms and reconcile monthly Real Estate/Personal Property Tax and Valuations.
  • Prepare prepaid leases.
  • Prepare capital leases.
  • Process prepaid insurance.
  • Assist in preparing information for internal and external auditors.
  • Other job duties as assigned.
