About The Position

Hillwood Energy, a Perot Company, has a long history in the oil & gas industry with assets in the United States and globally. Our current assets include operated and non-operated working interests in Texas, mineral interests across the U.S., and HKN Energy Ltd ( www.hknenergy.com ) which operates the Sarsang and Atrush Blocks in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. We are actively pursuing business development opportunities in the U.S. and the Middle-East/North Africa region. Hillwood Energy is seeking a Staff Accountant to join our dynamic and growing team in Fort Worth, Texas . This role is integral to ensuring accurate financial reporting and operational excellence across our energy portfolio. The Staff Accountant will be responsible for key processes including monthly and annual financial close, account reconciliations, and audit support, while also contributing to treasury management and oil and gas revenue/JIB accounting. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly analytical, and thrives in a fast-paced environment.   • Strong foundation in financial accounting concepts, reconciliations, and reporting standards.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, formulas) and general knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • Minimum 2 years of progressive accounting experience required.
  • Familiarity with GAAP compliance and internal control frameworks.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in oil and gas accounting and partnership structures strongly preferred.
  • Exposure to treasury or cash management functions is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and post accurate journal entries in accordance with GAAP and IFRS.
  • Perform account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies promptly.
  • Assist with monthly and annual close procedures, including preparation of financial statements and supporting schedules.
  • Process oil and gas revenue transactions and Joint Interest Billing (JIB) entries, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  • Support internal and external audit processes, ensuring timely and accurate responses to auditor requests.
  • Maintain and execute internal control procedures to safeguard assets and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in treasury management activities, including: Cash flow forecasting, Transaction execution, Bank reconciliations, Liquidity reporting
