About The Position

This position is responsible for general accounting duties including journal entries, program invoicing, program budget tracking, program revenue and expense accruals, account analysis and reconciliation, program financial statement analysis, maintaining financial compliance with program contracts, maintaining compliance with RMHS policy and procedure and internal controls.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of accounting principles, concepts and practices, understand and follow U.S. GAAP
  • Ability to organize work, set priorities, and to meet deadlines
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing
  • Ability to analyze and evaluate accounting and financial data
  • Knowledge of accounting software
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office with proficiency in Excel, proficient in Outlook, Word and PowerPoint
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Proof of motor vehicle insurance
  • Personal vehicle in good operating condition for use during work, including transporting individuals
  • No major violations in the past three years. No more than two moving violations in the past three years
  • Ability to meet and maintain agency driving requirements and operate agency vehicles
  • Drivers must upload proof of ongoing auto insurance every 6 months into Paycom/Relias
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance or two years of accounting or equivalent area experience
  • Proficiency in MS Excel
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Non-profit accounting experience preferred
  • Experience with accounting and reporting for governmental grants and contracts preferred
  • Experience with Sage/Intacct preferred

Responsibilities

  • Organize and validate accounting data and prepare reports for assigned funding sources
  • Assist in collecting and preparing documentation for the financial and funder audits
  • Prepare journal entries including recurring journal entries
  • Review various accounts payable inputs and reports to ensure expenses are coded to the correct general ledger account
  • Support month-end close process
  • Perform monthly general ledger reconciliations of balance sheet accounts
  • Work with the finance team to provide monthly financial analysis, including revenue and expense variance analysis as assigned
  • Adhere to internal financial controls
  • Accounting research and reporting
  • Assist in developing Desk Level Procedures as appropriate to the position
  • Support activities of finance staff
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external stakeholders
  • Perform special projects to meet the needs of the department and organization
  • Perform other duties as assigned
