KO Business Solutions is proud to be working with a growing firm specializing in accounting, tax, and consulting services based in Philadelphia and Chicago who is currently seeking an additional Staff Accountant to join their Chicago team. Our client provides a variety of accounting, tax, and consulting services to help business owners and nonprofits focus on what they do best: fulfill their missions and lead in the communities they serve. In this role you will serve not only as an accounting professional, but you will have an opportunity to act as an advisor to business owners and executive leadership.

Requirements

  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office software, including Excel
  • Experience using QuickBooks Desktop and QuickBooks Online are required; any other accounting systems are a plus
  • Ability to manage multiple clients, deadlines, and projects simultaneously
  • Strong organizational skills and very detail-oriented
  • Ability to self-manage and work independently in a remote environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting required; CPA certification preferred or on track to obtain.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a staff accountant role.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable transactions are classified accurately and timely – must be completed on a daily or weekly basis, depending upon client requirements
  • Timely download and reconciliation of various bank, credit card, and loan accounts
  • Payroll entries recorded in a timely manner
  • Record various adjusting entries and update associated
  • Initial preparation and review of financial statements to ensure all transactions have been properly recorded and classified
  • Initial preparation and revisions of cash forecasts and budgets
  • Initial preparation of sales tax returns, payroll and sales tax reconciliations and annual 1099 analysis
  • Proactively identify and resolve discrepancies, escalating issues and opportunities as necessary to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting
  • Ensure client folder and portal structures are always maintained
  • Other duties and responsibilities, as assigned
