About The Position

This role is responsible for multiple facets of the accounting department. We are looking for a highly skilled and detailed-oriented Staff Accountant that will be responsible for accounts receivable functions, sales tax compliance, fixed asset management, and investment planning and budget maintenance. The employee will also assist other accounting staff members and the Accounting Manager with any requested accounting duties. Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Accounts Receivable: Record and apply incoming payments to customer accounts, ensuring proper allocation of funds and balancing daily cash receipts. Monitor accounts receivable aging reports, track outstanding invoices, and follow up with customers on overdue payments via phone, email, or written correspondence. Serve as the primary point of contact for customer inquiries regarding billing, payments, and discrepancies. Provide excellent customer service while maintaining professionalism. Coordinate collection efforts for overdue accounts, and work with customers to resolve outstanding balances, payment terms, and disputes. Perform monthly reconciliations of accounts receivable to ensure accuracy, including verifying and resolving any discrepancies between accounts and payment records. Assist in reviewing and managing customer credit limits and payment terms to minimize financial risk for the company. Assist with the preparation of weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports on accounts receivable balances, aging, and collections progress. Sales Tax Compliance: Prepare, file, and submit sales tax returns on time for multiple jurisdictions (state, local, and federal levels). Monitor changes in sales tax rates, rules, and regulations to ensure compliance. Research and interpret complex sales tax laws, regulations, and rulings to ensure proper taxability and reporting. Fixed Asset Management: Maintain the fixed asset register, ensuring it is updated accurately and in a timely manner. Oversee the calculation and application of depreciation on assets in accordance with company policy and applicable accounting standards (e.g., GAAP, IFRS). Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual fixed asset reports for management, highlighting key changes and trends. Oversee fixed asset inspection required twice a year from Japan HQ. Investment Plan Preparation & Maintenance: Prepare monthly investment plan for Japan HQ Assist in forecasting monthly, quarterly, and annual budgets based on fixed asset investment totals

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business with a focus in Finance or Accounting from a four-year college or university preferred and a minimum of two years’ related experience and/or training in Finance or Accounting.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Proficient on Company-provided hardware and software.
