About The Position

Tiberius is seeking a diligent, self-motivated Staff Accountant to help build and scale our accounting function. This role will go beyond transactional bookkeeping and play a meaningful part in applying GAAP principles, strengthening internal controls and supporting strategic growth initiatives. This is an opportunity to gain broad exposure across accounting and finance in a startup environment while working closely with the Director of Finance – FP&A & Controller. The ideal candidate is someone who wants to grow into increasing responsibility as the company scales.

Requirements

  • 3 or more years of accounting experience (public accounting or industry)
  • Strong understanding of GAAP principles
  • Experience with accounting and AP software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, Rillet, Ramp, Expensify etc.)
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • High level of integrity and discretion
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong communication skills
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment

Nice To Haves

  • CPA or CPA candidate (not required)
  • Public accounting background (Big 4 or regional firm a plus)
  • Experience in defense, aerospace, manufacturing, software or hardware startups
  • Experience supporting audits or transaction diligence

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the general ledger and ensure accurate, timely recording of financial transactions
  • Assist in driving monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes
  • Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals and adjustments
  • Ensure GAAP compliance
  • Perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations
  • Identify and resolve accounting discrepancies
  • Assist with the preparation of internal financial statements
  • Maintain organized, audit-ready documentation
  • Assist in researching and applying GAAP guidance as needed
  • Support development of accounting policies and internal controls
  • Assist with revenue recognition, expense classification and capitalization analyses
  • Support audit preparation and investor due diligence
  • Contribute to improving systems and accounting processes as the company scales
  • Oversee accounts payable workflow and vendor management
  • Support cash flow tracking and reporting
  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting in collaboration with FP&A
  • Support compliance and regulatory filings
  • Take on cross-functional finance and operational projects as needed
