About The Position

The Staff Accountant supports the Accounting Manager in the month-end and year-end close process for a growing portfolio company. Key responsibilities include preparing journal entries, performing reconciliations, and analyzing account variances. The role requires strong analytical, organizational, and teamwork skills, while ensuring compliance with company policies, tax laws, contractual obligations, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.

Requirements

  • 1-2 years of relevant experience required
  • Bachelor’s degree with a focus on Accounting or Finance required
  • An understanding of GAAP
  • An understanding of month-end close processes
  • A proven self-starter with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in an entrepreneurial work environment
  • Possesses a high degree of ownership of their tasks and workflows to facilitate deliverables by specific deadlines with a high degree of accuracy
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with all departments, management levels within the company, and external stakeholders
  • Skill in organization, prioritization, and attention to detail
  • Ability to adapt to changing organizational and operational needs
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic, high-growth team environment
  • Adaptable individual that can shift focus based on changing priorities, while owning areas of focus and adhering to agreed-upon deadlines

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the preparation of journal entries to support the monthly close function.
  • Complete various bank reconciliations.
  • Responsible for maintaining and reconciling balances on the company’s balance sheets.
  • Assist with the preparation of financial information and schedules to external auditors during the annual financial statement audits.
  • Create intercompany invoices for related party transactions.
  • Assist with accounting subledger reporting and analysis.
  • Work with the Accounting Manager on improving processes around operational aspects of the financial transactions and reviews.
  • Assist with accounting research to ensure proper accounting withing GAAP
  • Documenting business transactions, assisting in implementing new accounting processes, and recommending process improvements.
  • Obtain knowledge of the ERP accounting software to ensure the proper, complete, and accurate record-keeping of transactions in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Ad hoc duties as required by the company.
