About The Position

Distinguished is a leading national insurance Program Manager providing specialized insurance programs to brokers and agents with specific expertise in Real Estate, Community Associations, Hospitality, Fine Art/Collectibles, Executive Lines, Environmental, Surety, Restaurants, and more. Distinguished partners with a select group of highly rated insurance companies to provide exclusive programs to our national network of 4,000 agencies and brokerages. We are seeking a detail‑oriented Staff Accountant to support day‑to‑day accounting operations within our Accounting & Finance team. This role assists with core accounting activities, journal entries, account reconciliations, financial reporting support, and Workday Financials processes while gaining exposure to budgeting and forecasting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • 2+ years of accounting experience (internships or corporate accounting preferred)
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (formulas, pivot tables, lookups)
  • Understanding of basic accounting principles and US GAAP
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and handle multiple tasks
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with budgeting/forecasting processes is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Prepare routine journal entries and assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities
  • Perform account reconciliations and investigate variances
  • Maintain accurate financial records and support general ledger activities
  • Assist with audit requests by compiling documentation and preparing support schedule
  • Support budgeting and forecasting data collection and template updates
  • Partner with team members to consolidate financial information and monitor spending trends
  • Help prepare variance analyses and periodic financial reports
  • Utilize Workday Financials for reporting, data entry, and process improvements
  • Assist in troubleshooting Workday issues and support enhancements under direction of senior team members
  • Participate in Workday training and help educate teammates on basic system functionality
