About The Position

About the job: The Staff Accountant will assist the Assistant Controllers with month-end closing for all residential and commercial properties. Complete daily accounting tasks requiring a basic level of accounting knowledge across a variety of responsibilities. Also, will include (but not limited to) posting monthly journal entries, account reconciliations, g/l variance analysis, and development of weekly and monthly financial reports. This role will support with a variety of clerical/office support as well.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree with business major in accounting.
2 years of accounting and financial experience.
Experience in real estate property management accounting (preferred but not required)
Knowledge of general reporting and reconciliations
Ability to function as part of a team and the ability to work independently.
Must have good time management and the ability to meet deadlines.
Accuracy and attention to detail.
Strong data entry skills and good team player
Must be organized, self-motivated with excellent interpersonal skills.
Must have excellent written and verbal communication and problem-solving abilities.
Communication and professional attitude and work ethics.
Proficient computer skills in Excel, Word, QuickBooks, and Adobe Acrobat.
Experience with ResMan, Yardi Elevate, and AvidXchange.

Nice To Haves

Experience in real estate property management accounting (preferred but not required)

Responsibilities

Perform Daily Bank Reconciliations for all residential and commercial properties.
Perform Credit card monthly reconciliations.
Download all bank statements and loan statements.
Execute accurate and timely reporting during the month-end close process, including preparing journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.
Maintain depreciation and accrual excel spreadsheets.
Post Deposits/refunds received and intercompany transfers.
Ensure that general ledger account and GL coding are correct on all receipts and expenditures.
Prepare annual 1099’s.
Assist Assistant Controllers with quarterly inventory counts at properties.
Prepare Financial Statement packages for ownership.
Process reclasses received from property managers.
Monthly calculation and posting of management fees.
Process Bill backs from corporate to respective properties in portfolio.
Post Deposits as received.
Assist with audit functions with payables and receivables.
Perform other duties as assigned.
