About The Position

The Staff Accountant will support the CFO and Controller by compiling, analyzing, and interpreting financial information across a dynamic HVAC and mechanical contracting environment. This position plays a critical role in maintaining general ledger accuracy, supporting service contract and repair operations, administering commissions, and assisting with financial reporting and analysis. The ideal candidate is organized, analytical, proactive, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Accounting or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 4 years of progressive accounting experience (service or construction industry preferred).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365, including Excel; Power BI preferred.
  • Experience with accounting software; COINS ERP+ or other ERP systems preferred.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage multiple priorities.
  • Flexibility to occasionally work outside normal hours and travel infrequently as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and post monthly journal entries in the general ledger and job cost system.
  • Perform accounting for Service Contract & Repair operations and administer Service Contract Commissions.
  • Manage intercompany accounting and reporting.
  • Maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets.
  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Complete monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Assist with month-end close and financial statement preparation.
  • Prepare and distribute monthly financial statements and gross profit analyses.
  • Provide monthly financial performance analysis compared to budget and forecast.
  • Analyze spending trends and support cost-control initiatives.
  • Assist with internal and external audits by preparing required documentation.
  • Respond to financial inquiries from leadership and administrative teams.
  • Perform ad hoc financial analyses as assigned.
