About The Position

We are seeking a detail-oriented, dependable Staff Accountant to support the financial operations of our 500-employee home care organization. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting daily accounting functions, assisting with payroll, and ensuring compliance with internal and external reporting requirements. The ideal candidate is hands-on, organized, and thrives in a fast-paced environment where teamwork, flexibility, and confidentiality are essential.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of accounting experience, preferably within healthcare, home health, or a multi-location small-to-mid sized business environment.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of GAAP and standard accounting practices.
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks (required) and Microsoft Excel (advanced skills preferred – pivot tables, formulas, lookups).
  • Experience with payroll processing and HR/payroll software, Paylocity experience a plus.
  • High attention to detail, strong accuracy, and effective problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; dependable, team-oriented, and able to maintain confidential information.
  • Average to above average computer skills, including word processing and data entry.
  • Must be a self-starter, pro-active person, able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be a team player dedicated to providing a high level of customer service, with a positive attitude
  • Ability to effectively interact with all employees
  • Ability to be well organized and prioritize effectively
  • Ability to perform moderate lifting, standing, and sitting for extended periods of time.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate general ledger entries and perform monthly, quarterly, and annual account reconciliations.
  • Prepare and process journal entries, vendor invoices, and payments.
  • Manage the full accounts payable cycle, including vendor communication and issue resolution.
  • Reconcile bank accounts, payroll accounts, and company credit card statements.
  • Support payroll processing for a 500-employee workforce and prepare related journal entries (payroll experience preferred).
  • Maintain organized accounting records, documentation compliance with company policies, audits, and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Collaborate with management to improve accounting workflows, financial procedures, and internal controls.
  • Assist with internal audits, including 401(k) audits, workers' compensation audits, and prepare audit-ready documentation for reviewers.
  • Assist with financial reporting as needed.
  • Provide administrative accounting support and cross-functional assistance to HR, Operations, and Finance teams.
