Empower Rental Group is hiring a Staff Accountant in Franklin, TN! Empower Rental Group is a family of local equipment rental providers across the Southeastern US. We began with 3 locations in 2021 with the goal of being the difference in the equipment rental industry by doing everything differently. We now have over 36 locations, and we are adding a Staff Accountant to our team in the Support Center location! Remote position; candidates must be able to work standard business hours in Central Standard Time Summary The Staff Accountant supports the accounting team by preparing and maintaining financial records to track the organization’s assets, liabilities, profit and loss, and other related financial activities. This role assists with monthly accounting tasks, including reconciling cash disbursement accounts, preparing prepaid asset and accrual schedules, preparing journal entries, facilitating inventory cycle counts, performing research, and supporting the financial audit. The Staff Accountant will work under close supervision, receiving training and guidance from the accounting manager and other senior team members, and is expected to develop a solid working knowledge of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), analytical skills, and proficiency with Excel in a growing and dynamic environment.

  • Assist with the month-end closing process by preparing recurring journal entries, accrual entries, correcting journal entries, and conducting research.
  • Through research and follow-up, ensure that reconciling items and discrepancies in accounting data are resolved timely.
  • Prepare bank reconciliations and balance sheet account reconciliations, including intercompany accounts.
  • Reports to the accounting manager.
  • Assist with bank compliance and the annual financial audit.
  • Support training initiatives by learning business processes and system applications for assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Help evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of business processes, procedures and accounting assumptions on an ongoing basis.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining documentation for business and system processes for assigned responsibilities.
  • Perform a variety of other functions/ad-hoc projects as assigned to aid in the achievement of goals and business objectives.

  • Associate’s degree (or equivalent) in Accounting or Finance or a related field
  • 0-2 years of accounting experience (internship or entry-level experience preferred)
  • 0-2 years of experience with a general ledger software (Sage Intacct knowledge preferred)
