About The Position

Singleton Schreiber is seeking an organized, detail-oriented staff accountant to support the Accounting team. This role is responsible for managing client settlement payments, maintaining accurate financial records, and supporting month-end close activities. The staff accountant plays a critical role in ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely processing of financial transactions. This role will be based in our San Diego office on a hybrid schedule, with three days per week onsite. Salary $33.00-$36.00 an hour Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as location, skills, experience, and qualifications for the role. The Staff Accountant supports firm financial operations by managing settlement-related accounting processes, coordinating with internal teams, and maintaining accurate and compliant accounting records. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills and have an ability to adapt quickly to change. This candidate should have experience in maintaining a database of financial information and be able to recognize and solve any problems that may arise in a flexible, timely manner. Requirements

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and QuickBooks.
  • 2+ years of general accounting experience or degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Studies, or Economics.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Excellent administrative, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive financial information with discretion.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Able to work a full-time, hybrid schedule.
  • 2-3 years of general accounting experience
  • An eye for efficiency and improvement of current processes
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks simultaneously and be very organized
  • Positive and enthusiastic team player
  • Full-time, Hybrid position (In Office 3 days per week)

Responsibilities

  • Perform regular reconciliation of trust accounts to ensure adherence to applicable compliance and regulatory standards.
  • Assist with month-end close procedures.
  • Process client settlement payments for all types of settlements.
  • Prepare and process client checks and attorney fee payments.
  • Review Client Settlement Distribution Agreements for accuracy and compliance.
  • Conduct audits of payments made and attorney fee splits.
  • Coordinate with the Settlement Team regarding client payments.
  • File and maintain accounting and financial documentation.
  • Respond to internal and external inquiries related to client payments.
  • Perform additional duties as needed to support the Accounting department.
