About The Position

Starting Pay Range: $30 - $33 per hour, DOE STAFF ACCOUNTANT Position Overview The Staff Accountant is responsible for performing a variety of accounting duties, including preparing financial reports, maintaining general ledger accounts, and ensuring compliance with accounting principles and company policies. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, the ability to work independently, and within deadlines.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 3-5+ years of accounting experience
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP)
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or similar)
• Advances Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.)
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Effective communication and interpersonal abilities
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain general ledger entries and account reconciliations
• Assist in monthly, quarterly, and annual close process
• Prepare financial statements and supporting schedules
• Analyze financial data and provide insights to management
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies
• Reconcile bank statements and resolve discrepancies
• Assist with audits by preparing required documentation
• Monitor and review expenses, accruals, and prepaid accounts
• Support budgeting and forecasting activities
• Improve and streamline accounting processes and controls
