The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting endowment accounting activities, including processing contributions and distributions, performing reconciliations, and maintaining accurate financial records. This role works closely with internal teams and external partners to ensure timely and accurate fund activity, supports audit preparation, and assists with accounting operations for the Foundation for Jewish Day Schools. Endowment Contribution Processing: Process daily/weekly banking and check deposit activity for various endowment and philanthropic funds. Enter all endowment and philanthropic fund contributions (including check, credit cards and stock) into the endowment platform and routinely communicate with the platform team regarding contribution activity scheduled for investment. Perform accurate stock valuation calculations for contributions received through stock transfers. Maintain spreadsheet logs for daily contributions by asset pool. Ensure proper documentation/support is obtained for all contribution processing activities and save support. Process monthly/quarterly interest checks on Israel Bonds: analyze and apply to appropriate funds. Reconciliation of monthly endowment contribution report. Analyze credit card fees for cost recovery and prepare necessary journal entries. Structure and manage recurring credit card contributions through credit card provider coordinating with Donor Services. Reconcile the endowment exchange account and request wire transfers from the operating account into the Endowment Custody Deposit account and record the respective entries in the general ledger. Endowment Distribution Processing: Review on a weekly basis grant distributions from endowed and donor-advised funds and communicate routinely with the endowment administrator team on these divestment activities. Review and analyze endowment distribution requests against applicable spend rate schedules to ensure alignment. Review divestment instructions for accuracy and save support. Foundation for Jewish Days Schools (FJDS): Process journal entries for various activities for the Foundation for Jewish Day Schools accounts as needed. Reconcile monthly the Foundation for Jewish Day Schools bank accounts which include compiling the relevant supporting documentation. Audit: Provide support across various areas of external audit preparation, including endowment accounting and the Foundation for Jewish Day Schools. General: Work closely with Endowments, Treasury and FJDS teams on contribution, investment, divestment and bank transfer related matters, as needed. Other duties, as assigned.
