About The Position

Bigfoot Roofing & Construction is a growing construction company serving the Jacksonville area with a focus on quality workmanship and strong customer relationships. As we continue to expand, we’re looking for an experienced Staff Accountant to oversee our day-to-day accounting operations and support accurate, timely financial reporting. The Staff Accountant will be responsible for daily accounting functions, overseeing month-end close, and ensuring accurate financial records with a strong emphasis on construction and Work-in-Progress (WIP) accounting. This role will work closely with leadership to support and maintain strong internal controls.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (preferred)
  • 3+ years of accounting experience (construction industry strongly preferred)
  • Experience with WIP accounting and job costing required
  • Solid understanding of basic GAAP principles
  • Proficiency in accounting software
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

Responsibilities

  • Process and support accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
  • Assist with payroll coordination and related entries
  • Prepare journal entries and maintain general ledger accuracy
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close processes
  • Perform account reconciliations (bank, credit cards, balance sheet accounts)
  • Support Work-in-Progress (WIP) reporting and job cost tracking
  • Maintain accurate job costing records and assist with financial reporting
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards
  • Assist with budgeting and cash flow tracking as needed
  • Support external accountants and auditors when required
