J.Crew is seeking a Staff Accountant, Wholesale supporting our new channel strategy. This role reports to the Senior Manager of Accounting.

Requirements

  • 1 to 3 years of practical accounting experience, preferably in wholesale and/or the retail industry or fashion/apparel.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong MS Excel knowledge.

Nice To Haves

  • CPA preferred but not required.
  • SAP experience a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accounting records related to the wholesale business, including follow-up with customers, collection and allocation of payments, monitoring customer account details for non-payments, delayed payments and other irregularities
  • Track and report wholesale receivables, revenues and expenses by channel and customer.
  • Prepare customer invoices; general ledger entries including the accounting for sales and returns, cost of goods sold, and inventory accruals.
  • Ensure purchase order processing and accounts receivable activities by wholesale account are accurately tracked.
  • Liaise with merchants, production, logistics and inventory control to ensure timely recognition of sales and cost of goods sold as well as accurate forecast.
  • Support Wholesale leadership and legal on due diligence process for substantial wholesale contracts.
  • Assist with the financial close for the J. Crew and Madewell wholesale channels.
  • Reconcile and assist in analyzing balance sheet and P&L variances.
  • Prepare ad hoc reports and analysis to support management decision making
  • Assist with the external audit process, including preparation of audit requests.
  • Assist with compliance with Section 404 of Sarbanes Oxley.
