About The Position

The Staff Accountant in the Transportation Tax Department plays a key role in preparing tax filings for transportation clients, maintaining accurate financial records, and providing consultative support on tax planning strategies. This position supports the preparation of quarterly estimates, S Corporation compliance, 2290 and 1099 filings, and assists with client communications related to tax matters.

Requirements

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • One to two years of experience in accounting roles with an emphasis in tax services.
  • Must pass a CJIS background check.

Nice To Haves

  • CPA certification preferred.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office applications, QuickBooks, QuickBooks Online, UltraTax, and AdvanceFlow preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare quarterly tax estimates and federal filings (1099s, 2290s) for transportation clients.
  • Assist with the preparation of individual and business tax returns, including Schedule C and S Corporations.
  • Support transportation clients with S Corporation formations and related filings.
  • Conduct research on federal and state tax matters related to the transportation industry.
  • Collaborate with the Transportation Department to ensure timely completion and delivery of client tax engagements.
  • Maintain detailed and organized workpapers in accordance with internal quality control standards.
  • Communicate with clients to gather documentation, provide status updates, and deliver final tax products.
  • Assist with various internal projects such as Beneficial Ownership Information filings, RA renewals, and client retention tracking.
  • Identify opportunities for improved tax processes and client service efficiencies.
  • Uphold compliance with internal procedures and external regulatory requirements.
