About The Position

Hotel Daphne seeks an enthusiastic Staff Accountant to join our team. The Staff Accountant reports directly to the Area Director of Finance and plays a key role in supporting all hotel accounting functions, including accounts receivable, general cashiering, ie audit, and financial reporting. Hotel Daphne in Houston Heights is a 49-room hideaway inspired by utopian ideals, clandestine neighborhood clubs, determined women and art of all kinds. We invite travelers and locals to check in and 'check out.' Opening winter 2025.

Requirements

• Strong knowledge of general ledger, accounts receivable, and cashiering processes.
• Strong organizational and communication skills, written and verbal.
• Ability to meet deadlines with attention to detail and accuracy.

Nice To Haves

• 1-2 years of accounting experience, hotel or public accounting preferred.
• Degree in Accounting or Finance preferred but not required.
• Experience in a hotel or a related field strongly preferred.
• Proficient in Hyatt systems (Opera, Oracle) and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).

Responsibilities

• Perform accounts receivable functions, including preparing invoices and reconciling payments.
• Manage general cashier duties: issue, audit, and maintain hotel banks, prepare bank deposits, due backs, and petty cash.
• Ensure house banks are properly documented, approved, and maintained.
• Send out Daily report.
• Review and approve ie journal and resolve any errors or discrepancies.
• Validate and reconcile credit card batches.
• Upload daily reports to Point and confirm completion.
• Contribute to monthly journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and reporting.
• Assist in preparation of month-end closing procedures and reports.
• Handle inquiries from Hyatt Service Center.
• Perform other tasks and duties as needed or as directed.
