About The Position

SUMMARY This position will serve as an accountant on the Benefit Plan Accounting & Reporting (BPAR) team. This role will be responsible for moderately complex accounting activities related to a variety of benefit plans including compensation, Retiree Medical, active medical, dental, PTO, 401(k), etc. The position is responsible for the timely and accurate accounting, analysis, planning, and reporting activities related to the assigned plans. This role requires an understanding of Andersen's various benefit plans, while collaborating with others both within and outside the enterprise to maintain compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and other legal or regulatory guidelines, as applicable (e.g. ERISA). In addition, this role will support projects with minimal supervisory review to implement changes related to assigned benefit plans.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • 2+ years of experience in accounting
  • Solid understanding of general ledger and GAAP accounting practices
  • Strong knowledge and use of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Ability to work independently and be pro-active, detail oriented, and well-organized
  • Team player with strong collaborative and communication skills; ability to be a strong contributor or leader on cross functional projects

Nice To Haves

  • CPA, CMA, and/or MBA preferred
  • Preference for experience with accounting and reporting of employee benefits plans and compensation
  • Training and experience preparing and filing government filings preferred, such as Form 5500, 4010, and 990
  • Experience with Power BI is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and perform daily, weekly, and periodic accounting, analysis, reporting, and funding duties for corporate benefit plans including but not limited to compensation, retirement, welfare, and other benefit plans across the enterprise, along within the benefit plan trusts and recordkeeping.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP. This includes completing periodic account reconciliations for all balance- sheet benefit accounts assigned by the team manager, maintaining integrity of all related data, monitoring, and maintaining internal controls and processes, and developing and executing ongoing process improvements.
  • Coordinate, prepare and provide support for both the corporate and the benefit plan audits. This includes financial statement preparation, including footnotes, for benefit plans that require audits, in addition to preparation of related Form 5500's.
  • Prepare, track, and analyze budgets, forecasts, and outlooks for corporate and plan-level benefits- related items. Collaborate and report this information across the enterprise to both Finance and non-Finance business partners, including but not limited to Tax, Treasury, Internal Audit, Shared Services, Total Rewards, Payroll, Benefits Administration, Benefits Design, and Compensation.
  • Participate and collaborate in various internal and external benefits-related projects, as an accounting and finance subject matter expert. Provide input and support for benefit plan design assumption changes. Communicate with benefits partners and leadership on financial impacts.
