About The Position

Staff Associate Engineers perform professional engineering assignments not requiring licensure by the State Board of Professional Engineers & Land Surveyors. Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training. This position is located within the District 2 - Utility/Permits Office in Reno. Incumbent will process encroachment permits throughout eight counties for the public, as well as process utility acquisitions or relocations for NDOT contracts, in Northwest Nevada.

Responsibilities

• Reviewing permit applications and performing field reviews to ensure compliance with Department standards and policies
• Acting liaison to NDOT Headquarters for interactions with utility companies
• Inspection of Outdoor advertising in accordance with the Nevada Revised Statue
• Permit construction inspections
• Site reviews and implementation of field changes as required
• Preparation of technical engineering memoranda and letters
• Design, process, and manage to completion District contracts and special projects by preparing contract plans, specifications, and estimates
