Staff Associate Engineers perform professional engineering assignments not requiring licensure by the State Board of Professional Engineers & Land Surveyors. Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training. Located in Elko, this role involves managing and overseeing utility adjustments, encroachments, and occupancy permits while ensuring all work complies with NDOT standards and approved plans. Responsibilities include inspecting permitted and unpermitted activities, reviewing local development and zoning changes for NDOT impacts, and coordinating with various agencies through meetings and field reviews. The position also requires inspecting railroad and utility projects, maintaining detailed records and maps related to right-of-way and utilities, processing right-of-entry requests, and obtaining necessary permits and inspections for district projects.
