The Stacker Operator plays a crucial role in the production process by ensuring the efficient and safe operation of stacking equipment. This position requires a strong commitment to adhering to all applicable Plant and OSHA safety rules. The Stacker Operator is responsible for maintaining the quality of the product by checking each load for defects such as warps, wrinkles, and other quality issues. The operator must also review the run sheet for various specifications including size, color, and special unit counts, ensuring that all orders are processed correctly. In addition to operating the stacking equipment, the Stacker Operator must communicate effectively with the control room regarding any issues that arise during the operation. This includes notifying them of problems, recording the caliper of sheets at each grade change, and coordinating with the tally to sort out defective boards. The operator is also responsible for filling out a stacker checklist for each order and reporting maintenance issues using the work order procedure. When necessary, the Stacker Operator should seek assistance from the Dry End Assistant to ensure smooth operations. To succeed in this role, the Stacker Operator must demonstrate the ability to perform all normal duties satisfactorily and show a willingness to learn and progress within the classification. This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, along with relevant experience or training in a related field. Strong language and mathematical skills are essential, as the operator must read and interpret safety rules and operating instructions, as well as perform basic calculations. The role also demands problem-solving abilities and the capacity to work effectively in a team environment.
