This workshop, titled 'The Gifts of Practical Pluralism in a Multi-faith Society,' will be led by Dr. Jan Jaynes Quesada and is scheduled for Saturday, February 22, 2025, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon CDT at Brite Divinity School. The workshop aims to explore the concept of pluralism, which is grounded in a positive perception of the tremendous religious diversity present in today's United States. While diversity is a demographic fact, pluralism is considered an achievement that involves positive engagement and appreciative relationships across religious differences. The workshop will address the benefits of pluralism and how religious diversity can serve as a source of communal strength rather than division. Participants will learn about the basic principles of interfaith studies and practices that promote pluralism, using contemporary case studies to navigate the challenges of religious diversity and foster cooperation in communities.
