About The Position

As a Board of Leader, you will assist to bring awareness to current TRIO students about educational opportunities, resources on campus and workshops available to them. In doing this, we must effectively communicate with a variety of St. Olaf departments and organizations including but not limited to faculty and staff at the college. In a broader context, our hopes are to reach out to the Northfield Community, other Minnesota TRIO programs and non-TRIO students at St. Olaf. By advocating to legislators, we hope to sustain TRIO’s establishment nationally. In this position, the student employee will have a key role in planning and administering SSS events and activities throughout the academic year along with carrying out responsibilities as assigned for their specific committee. Requirements

  • At least one year of experience as a St. Olaf College student required
  • Knowledge of TRIO SSS services required
  • Must maintain a 2.5 or higher GPA
  • Must be in good academic standing all year; BOL must maintain a good academic standing all year.
  • BOL who fall short of good academic standing in the fall semester must attain a 2.01 GPA or higher in their interim course to be eligible to continue as a BOL.
  • If you are 18+ years old and have a driver's license you must complete the St. Olaf College required “SafeColleges Online Course” to be a certified driver.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of education courses relevant to TRIO services preferred

Responsibilities

  • Serve on one of the four committees within the Board of Leaders and follow through with the specific duties of this committee.
  • Attend all scheduled Board of Leader meetings on Mondays from 3:15 pm to 4:15 pm
  • Attend all SSS Events/Activities as set by the Board of Leader Coordinators
  • Assist with creating and planning events; setup and cleanup; collaborating with departments and orgs on campus, participating in a fall and spring volunteer activity.
  • Work 2-3 hours in the office (late afternoon/night shifts and Sunday shifts)
