About The Position

The Senior Vice President of Operations provides strategic leadership and oversight for the operational functions within Tampa General Hospital’s academic medical center. This executive role ensures that service policies and practices are aligned with the organization’s overall mission, vision, and goals. The SVP of Operations is instrumental in maintaining safe, efficient, and high-quality operational activities that contribute to the hospital's success and sustainability. This position will ensure all operational activities align with the organization’s shared purpose, vision, and core values.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Business Administration or related field.
  • Ten (10) years of progressive experience within hospital Support Services, Operations, or related experience with five (5) years in a leadership capacity.
  • Knowledge of healthcare regulations, safety standards, and industry best practices.
  • Outstanding human relations and leadership skills with an ability to function in a team environment.
  • Broad understanding of mission, programs, and operations across the spectrum of clinical care activities.
  • Ability to influence, adapt approaches, and deliver results.
  • Demonstrates knowledge in preparing and managing budgets for projects impacting multiple departments and hospital entities.
  • Skill in managing and tracking projects to successful completion.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight for operational functions within the hospital.
  • Ensure service policies and practices align with the organization's mission, vision, and goals.
  • Maintain safe, efficient, and high-quality operational activities.
  • Lead the development and execution of operational action plans that establish objectives and define strategies.
  • Manage and track projects to successful completion.
  • Develop and implement operating and capital budgets, overseeing billing, revenues, and expenditures.
  • Manage the master facility plan, including changes and upgrades to support ongoing facility needs.
  • Optimize performance of hospital operational areas financially, operationally, and across quality metrics.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, accreditation standards, and safety guidelines.
  • Oversee strategic alignment of operational functions including CareComm, Transfer Center, Pharmacy, Lab Services, Injury Prevention, Clinical Nutrition Services, Linen Management, Patient Transport, Service Response Center, Environmental Services, and House of Coffee.
  • Partner with other hospital leaders to integrate essential services into overall hospital operations.
