About The Position

As a Senior Unified Communications Engineer, you will be considered a technical expert in architecting, optimizing, and sustaining Thrivent’s enterprise unified communications and video conferencing environments. Your primary focus will be on the implementation and support of Microsoft 365 solutions that deliver value across the organization such as Teams (including Teams Voice and Teams Rooms), Exchange Online, and SharePoint—while also supporting modern AV technologies for conference rooms. This hybrid role requires hands-on work with meeting room systems but emphasizes UC strategy, integration, and operational excellence across the enterprise. This role REQUIRES the ability to be on site in Appleton, WI 4 days per week.

Responsibilities

  • Unified Communications Design & Implementation Lead design, deployment, and lifecycle management of enterprise UC solutions (Microsoft Teams, Teams Rooms, Teams Voice, Exchange Online, SharePoint, Zoom).
  • Drive integration of UC platforms with enterprise workflows and security standards.
  • Automate workflows for provisioning, monitoring, and incident response.
  • AV Support & Conference Room Technology Support and maintain AV systems for conference rooms, including advanced setups in premium spaces.
  • Architect and maintain standards for video conferencing systems, including documentation and troubleshooting technologies such as Poly/Polycom, Shure, Biamp, Dante and Crestron.
  • Operational Excellence & Governance Advance security posture for shared endpoints, integrating MFA and resilience measures.
  • Respond rapidly to incidents and maintain environmental observability and stability.
  • Collaboration & Cross-Functional Partnership Partner with Workplace Solutions, IT, and Security to deliver frictionless meeting experiences.
  • Participate in sprint reviews and product planning for UC initiatives.
  • Vendor & Financial Management Manage vendor relationships, review solutions, and ensure financial stewardship.
  • Evaluate technology partners and lead proof-of-concepts for new UC capabilities.
  • Coaching & Continuous Improvement Mentor junior engineers and share best practices for UC and AV integration.
  • Contribute to developing engineering templates, standards, and automation frameworks.
  • Use data to measure progress and improve processes.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
