Allied World is looking for a Sr. Underwriter or AVP to join the San Francisco team in the Public Directors & Officers division. The dynamic state of the D&O Insurance market requires drive, a high acumen for success, and flexibility to changing conditions. The ideal candidate will be responsible for underwriting a complex book of business, for helping to manage the growth of the overall portfolio, and for marketing to broker-partners and servicing of existing and potential clients.

Requirements

  • 4-year college degree required
  • 3-7 years underwriting experience
  • Solid Writing and Communication Skills
  • Basic understanding of financial analysis and accounting
  • Excellent organizational skills, and ability to multi task
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, high pressure environment
  • Willingness to travel
  • Must be able to think originally, be willing to challenge ideas and be receptive to having their own ideas challenged

Responsibilities

  • Conduct financial and business analysis of client-companies and meet with C-suite executives to discuss operating and future performance
  • Negotiate coverage and layer participation for large Directors and Officers Liability insurance programs on publicly-traded companies including IPOs, SPACs, and M&A transactions
  • Assist in managing a renewal book of business while driving new business production growth
  • Maintain relationships with broker partners while working to expand production sources regionally
  • Work with Northwestern Region leads on regional budgeting and business development
  • Engage with the Claims, and Actuarial, Legal, and Marketing departments on an as-needed basis
  • Participate in internal projects to improve business processes regionally and countrywide
  • Maintain compliance with all internal, administrative, and underwriting guidelines, systems, and procedures
