The Sr Transportation Financial Analyst is responsible for overseeing and improving all aspects of the parcel and freight payment process, managing over $240M in annual transportation spend. This role partners closely with carriers, third-party service providers, and internal cross-functional teams to ensure accurate and timely payments, resolve invoicing discrepancies, and deliver financial reporting and insights. The analyst also plays a key role in supporting period-end financial activities, driving continuous process improvements, and developing tools and solutions to enhance audit, payment, and reporting efficiency across the transportation function.

  • Oversee transportation invoice process for Truckload and Less than Truckload, ensuring accuracy and timely payment.
  • Oversee weekly parcel invoicing, analysis, exceptions, and reporting with third-party provider, carriers and cross-functional partners.
  • Review and resolve billing discrepancies and exceptions to maintain financial integrity and accurate cost allocation.
  • Prepare and distribute weekly and monthly transportation financial reports for Finance, Accounting, and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Manage 3PL invoicing and ensure alignment with contractual and financial requirements.
  • Lead advanced analysis of transportation billing data to identify complex spend trends, cost drivers, and strategic savings opportunities across all modes (Truckload, LTL, Parcel).
  • Develop and implement sophisticated financial models and forecasting tools to support strategic decision-making and optimize transportation spend.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for cross-functional initiatives, collaborating with Finance, Accounting, Supply Chain, and IT to drive integration and alignment of transportation payment processes.
  • Oversee the design and continuous improvement of audit and payment automation solutions, leveraging data analytics and process engineering methodologies.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior analysts and team members, fostering a culture of analytical rigor and continuous improvement.
  • Lead onboarding and integration of new carriers, including negotiation of payment terms, system configuration, and process documentation.
  • Champion process reengineering projects, utilizing Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies to streamline workflows and enhance reporting capabilities.
  • Present findings and recommendations to senior leadership, influencing strategic decisions and supporting enterprise-wide transportation initiatives.
  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in Business, Finance, Supply Chain, or related field strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 5+ years of progressive experience in Logistics, Supply Chain, or Transportation Finance, with demonstrated expertise in freight and parcel audit, financial analysis, and advanced analytics.
  • Proven track record of leading process improvement initiatives and implementing automation solutions in transportation finance.
  • Advanced proficiency in Transportation Management Systems (TMS), SAP, and other enterprise financial platforms; experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) highly desirable.
  • Expert-level skills in Microsoft Excel (complex formulas, Power Query, VBA/macros, data modeling) and strong proficiency in the broader Office Suite.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple high-impact projects simultaneously, delivering results under tight deadlines.
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to synthesize complex data into actionable recommendations.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills; experience presenting to executive audiences.
  • High degree of professional integrity, attention to detail, and commitment to continuous learning and development.
  • Certification in Lean, Six Sigma, or similar process improvement methodologies preferred.
