About the position

AtkinsRéal is seeking a Senior Transportation Engineer Design Lead to join our team in Guaynabo, PR. This position involves managing a multidisciplinary team to deliver engineering solutions, leading the design project team, and ensuring quality control of designs and specifications. The role requires keeping abreast of state-of-the-art methods in the field, recommending improvements, and potentially functioning as the project manager for various projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in engineering, with a focus on technical writing and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Manages a multidisciplinary team to deliver engineering solutions.
• Lead the design project team, with full responsibility for interpreting, organizing and executing project assignments.
• Conducts quality control checks, reviewing calculations, designs, evaluations, and specifications developed by design staff for accuracy and completeness.
• Performs on-site inspections and reviews, and conducts or oversees remedial design work.
• Keeps abreast of state-of-the-art methods and developments in area of specialization.
• Recommends changes or improvements to plans and programs.
• May function as the project manager for routine to semi-complex projects, including marketing, negotiating contracts, budgeting, financial management, schedule coordination and resources allocation.
• Performs other duties as deemed necessary by the supervisor.
• Knowledge of codes, standards, and regulations, local and federal, as applicable.

Requirements

• B.S. or M.S. in Engineering.
• M.S. or graduate level technical coursework preferred.
• 10 years of experience since B.S. or 9 years since M.S.
• 15 to 20 years of experience typical for the incumbent.
• Strong technical writing and communications skills.
• P.E. license as a registered engineer in Puerto Rico is required.
