About The Position

The position involves conducting thorough searches of public records and examining properties to assess their title status, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and Underwriter policies. The role requires reviewing various documents affecting property titles, interpreting real estate documents, and assembling Title Commitments for issuing Final Title Policies. Effective communication with Underwriters, Title Officers, and Escrow Teams is essential, along with mentoring junior examiners on title issues.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5+ years Texas title examination experience.
  • Strong understanding of title examination process and procedures.
  • Residential examination experience with Acreage (metes and bounds) preferred.
  • Proficient in Title Data (TIMS) title plant software and Deed Plotter software.
  • Good research/investigation skills and understanding of legal terms.
  • Excellent verbal/written skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Ability to prioritize according to departmental guidelines.
  • High level of organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to learn various software applications.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with County Government websites.
  • Awareness of new legal developments/legislation affecting real property.
  • Attention to detail combined with analytical and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct a thorough search of public records and examine property’s title status.
  • Review documents affecting title to property, such as mortgages, deeds, probate records, and trust agreements.
  • Read and interpret real estate documents, legal proceedings, maps, and surveys.
  • Assemble Title Commitments for issuing Final Title Policies.
  • Communicate effectively with Underwriters, Title Officers, Escrow Officers, and Escrow Processing Teams.
  • Mentor junior examiners on various title issues.
