If you are driven to create a better, more sustainable future, then this is the right place for you. We are seeking an Sr. Thermal Engineer to join our HVAC & Thermal team at Lucid Motors. This role supports the development of advanced thermal management and HVAC systems by assisting in system-level modeling, simulation, and validation activities. The ideal candidate is an early-career engineer with foundational knowledge in thermal systems and a strong interest in modeling and testing for electric vehicles.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Thermal Sciences, or a related field.
  • 0–2 years of experience in thermal systems modeling, simulation, or testing (internships or co-op experience considered).
  • Familiarity with 1D modeling tools (GT-SUITE, Simulink, or similar) and basic proficiency in Python or MATLAB for data analysis.
  • Foundational understanding of thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics.
  • Exposure to CFD tools (e.g., ANSYS Fluent, Star-CCM+, OpenFOAM) is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing and maintaining 1D system models for thermal and HVAC systems using tools such as GT-SUITE, Simulink, MATLAB, or Python.
  • Support simulation studies to evaluate system architectures, component sizing, and performance trade-offs under guidance from senior engineers.
  • Contribute to reduced-order model development by processing test data and supporting correlation activities.
  • Assist in CFD pre/post-processing tasks and learn to interpret results for design insights.
  • Participate in lab testing activities, including instrumentation setup, data acquisition, and troubleshooting under supervision.
  • Perform data analysis and visualization using Python or MATLAB to support model validation and performance assessments.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to share findings and ensure alignment with program requirements.
  • Document modeling assumptions, test observations, and analysis results in clear, structured reports.
