About The Position

Supermicro Computer is seeking a passionate candidate to take on the responsibilities of Sr. Thermal Engineer - Mechanical. This position is pivotal in the thermal architecture, thermal/mechanical design, analysis, and validation of thermal technologies within networking server and data storage products. The role emphasizes the integration of thermal solutions with server and rack systems for new products and architectures, ensuring that the designs meet industry standards and performance expectations. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundational background in implementing thermal solutions and chassis/rack design in enterprise electronics, which is critical for the success of our data center applications. In this role, the Sr. Thermal Engineer will develop and design thermal solutions specifically tailored for chassis and rack systems, focusing on data center applications. This includes evaluating system layouts, power consumption, airflow, acoustics, sensors, and related mechanical requirements. The engineer will perform component, system, and rack-level thermal and mechanical design for cooling systems, ensuring that all designs are optimized for performance and efficiency. Additionally, the engineer will prepare product drawings, Bill of Materials (BOM), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), and system design/test reports, which are essential for maintaining quality and compliance in our products. The position also involves thermal and mechanical debugging, system optimization, and thorough documentation of processes and results. The engineer will analyze structural and thermal aspects to ensure feasibility, specifying thermal interface materials and manufacturing processes as needed. Furthermore, the role requires the identification and creation of new techniques to advance thermal and mechanical development and validation, contributing to the continuous improvement of our product offerings.
