About The Position

We are looking for a hands-on, technically strong development test engineer to validate the products and perform pre-certification compliance tests for utility-interactive inverters and power conversion systems. This role involves executing rigorous testing in accordance with national and international standards to ensure product safety, performance, and grid compatibility.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s in electrical/Electronic Engineering or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • 8+ years performing compliance testing for power electronics or grid-interactive inverters.
  • Proven hands-on experience with UL 1741, IEEE 1547, IEC 62109 compliance testing.
  • Demonstrated ability to execute and complete product certifications.
  • Practical experience with grid-interactive and grid-support standards.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills.
  • High attention to detail with ability to interpret and apply complex standards.
  • Skilled in lab equipment operation, testing, troubleshooting, and data reporting.
  • In-depth knowledge of grid interaction and support codes.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with energy storage systems, solar inverters, or grid-tied power products.
  • Knowledge of international compliance and grid codes.
  • Familiarity with compliance automation and scripting.

Responsibilities

  • Read and apply standards (e.g., UL 1741, IEEE 1547, IEC 62109, IEC 61000 Series) to develop engineering and pre-compliance test plans.
  • Write test plans based on Compliance Product Design Requirements (CPDR) summarizing grid and/or safety compliance needs.
  • Set up and configure test hardware and firmware; execute and post-process tests; submit results to certification bodies.
  • Perform tests including fault response, electrical safety, leakage current, dielectric withstand, temperature, pressure, mechanical safety, environmental exposure, EMC, functional safety, and abnormal conditions.
  • Operate and maintain test instruments such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, surge generators, load banks, grid simulators, and environmental chambers.
  • Build, calibrate, and modify test fixtures as required.
  • Provide technical inputs for test effort estimates, site needs, and standard applicability.
  • Create detailed test reports and documentation; interface with internal certification team and with NRTLs (e.g., UL, Intertek, CSA, TUV).
  • Troubleshoot test issues in collaboration with design, quality, and compliance teams.
  • Maintain safe lab practices and drive improvements in test efficiency and accuracy.
