About The Position

We are seeking a Sr. Technical Program Manager for the AWS Data Center Physical Security team. In this role you will be responsible for scoping and delivering large programs end-to-end. Responsibilities include collection of business requirements from customers, writing specifications, driving project schedules from design to release, and managing the production launch. You will lead and coordinate design/implementation efforts between internal teams, external teams and partners to develop optimal solutions for new features. The right candidate will possess a strong technical and program management background, will have successfully managed multi-discipline, highly technical initiatives. You must be able to thrive and succeed in an entrepreneurial environment, and not be hindered by ambiguity or competing priorities. This means you are not only able to develop and drive high-level strategic initiatives, but can also roll up your sleeves, dig in and get the job done. You should be open to new challenges, extremely good at multi-tasking, innovative, creative, self-directed and a great team player. As a Sr. TPM, you will anticipate bottlenecks, provide escalation management, anticipate and make trade-offs, and balance the business needs versus technical constraints. An ability to take large, complex programs and break them down into manageable pieces, develop functional specifications, then deliver them in a timely manner. AWS Infrastructure Services (AIS) owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we're the people who keep the cloud running. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science or equivalent
  • 5+ years of technical product or program management experience
  • 7+ years of working directly with engineering teams experience
  • 5+ years of project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management experience

Nice To Haves

  • Experience managing projects across cross functional teams, building sustainable processes and coordinating release schedules
  • Experience defining KPI's/SLA's used to drive multi-million dollar businesses and reporting to senior leadership
  • 4+ years of analytical, quantitative, communication, and presentations experience
  • 5+ years of technical program management working directly with software engineering teams experience
  • Master's degree, or MBA in management, business administration, economics, engineering, marketing
  • MBA or Masters degree in Management or Engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Manage cross-team and cross-organization delivery of long-term customer-facing programs
  • Meet with internal and external customers to understand future requirements
  • Collaborate with project stakeholders in multiple business and technical teams to define and deliver on agreed upon milestones. Anticipate bottlenecks, provide escalation management, anticipate and make tradeoffs Plan and coordinate events including facilitation and action item management.
  • Lead data-driven decision making through analysis of metrics and operational data, creating KPIs to demonstrate product/program value and effectiveness.
