The expected starting pay range for this position is $95,000 - $101,500. Applicable pay ranges may differ across markets. Actual pay will be determined based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law. In addition to competitive pay, compensation may include a variety of other components like benefits, paid time off, merit, and bonus opportunities.

Requirements

  • The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with sales and use tax audits, compliance, and research.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required.
  • 5+ years of experience in corporate tax or finance, with a focus on sales and use tax.
  • Experience interacting with auditors, audit defense, and tax appeals.
  • Experience working with Vertex or similar tax automation systems, and proficiency with Oracle, MicroStrategy, Excel, Word, and SharePoint.
  • Excellent project management, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • High energy and motivation, with the ability to manage multiple projects effectively.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to meet tight deadlines.
  • Independent thinker and self-starter with sound judgment.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in the retail industry is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Audit Support
  • Prepare and provide auditors with supporting documentation using various internal systems.
  • Review auditors' workpapers, analyze findings, and prepare audit defense responses.
  • Analyze, extrapolate, and evaluate audit exposure to identify risk and mitigation opportunities.
  • Tax Compliance
  • Support the preparation and filing of sales and use tax returns and related schedules.
  • Partner with outside consultants on projects, tax filings, and data requests.
  • Research and respond to internal and external inquiries regarding tax rates, product classification, and exemption documentation.
  • Maintain compliance calendars to ensure timely filings and remittances.
  • Other / Special Projects
  • Manage and assist with indirect tax related and cross-functional projects, including data analytics and system enhancements.
  • Collaborate with Finance, Accounting, and IT to ensure accuracy and integrity of transactional tax data.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency.
