Senior Tax Accountant (Individual Tax Returns) Fiduciary Trust International is hiring a Senior Tax Accountant who will play a critical role in preparing various tax returns and related tax documentation for Fiduciary Trust International clients. This tax preparer role requires a strong understanding of tax laws and regulations. This is a hybrid role, requiring two to three days in the office (One Madison Avenue).

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
  • 5-7 years tax experience or more; experience preparing individual tax returns (1040 returns)
  • In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations, with a strong emphasis on preparing individual, partnership, and foundation tax returns
  • Experience with CCH Axcess tax preparation software and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate complex tax concepts to both internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Taxation preferred

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review federal, state, and local income tax returns and gift tax returns for individuals, partnerships, and foundations.
  • Manage the tax compliance process for a portfolio of high-net-worth clients, including gathering necessary financial information, communicating with clients, and addressing tax-related inquiries.
  • Conduct tax research on complex tax issues and provide recommendations to management and clients.
  • Assist in the preparation of estimated tax payments and extensions.
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as wealth management and operations, to ensure accurate and timely tax reporting.
  • Assist with tax audits and inquiries from tax authorities.
  • Stay current with changes in tax laws and regulations and assess their impact on the company and its clients.
