About The Position

The Khoury College of Computer Sciences at Northeastern University is seeking a scientific software developer to join a research team focused on computational approaches to accelerate discovery in biomedicine. The role involves developing and testing software for natural language processing, knowledge integration, model generation, and model analysis, while contributing to significant projects aimed at enhancing scientific models in biomedicine and related fields.

Requirements

• Master's or doctoral degree in computer science, computational biology, bioinformatics, or related fields.
• 2+ years of experience in Python programming with a well-documented track record.
• Experience with Git version control.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.

Nice To Haves

• Proficiency in programming for scientific data analysis.
• Experience with natural language processing systems.
• Experience with machine learning methods and software libraries.
• Experience with Python scientific computing libraries (numpy, scipy, pandas, networkx).
• Experience with JavaScript and front-end development.

Responsibilities

• Develop and test software for natural language processing, knowledge integration, model generation, and model analysis.
• Deploy software on cloud computing infrastructure.
• Create web services and associated user interfaces.
• Contribute to the DARPA Automating Scientific Knowledge Extraction and Modeling (ASKEM) program.
• Contribute to the ARPA-H BDF program for biomedical data integration.
