McLaughlin Research Corporation (MRC) has an immediate opening for an Intermediate-level Systems Safety Engineer to support our Code 45 (USW Platforms & Payload Integration Department) and/or Code 85 (Undersea Warfare Weapons, Vehicles, and Defensive Systems Department) tasking. Duties include preparing and/or updating safety assessment reports and hazard assessment reports. Reviewing and analyzing system safety management and program plans, safety analyses, accident and incident data, mishap investigation reports, safety test plans and results, and other ESOH related data. Performing operational analyses and studies to identify potential deficiencies in weapon or payload operating procedures, ordnance handling procedures, stowage or other logistics phases involving ordnance, payloads, casualty procedures, etc. and making specific recommendations for their resolution. Specific Tasking: Prepare/review/update Technical Data Packages and Presentation Materials in support of Safety Review Board Reviews including the Weapon System Explosive Safety Review Board (WSESRB), Software Systems Safety Technical Review Panel (SSSTRP) and Fuse & Initiation Systems Technical Review Panel (FISTRP). Review System Requirements documentation to identify potential hazardous conditions and make recommendations to system design in collaboration with program staff. Conduct safety analyses and prepare/update Safety Assessment Reports, including, but not limited to, Preliminary Hazard Analysis (PHA), Functional Hazard Analysis (FHA), System Hazard Analysis (SHA), Subsystem Hazard Analysis (SSHA), Software Criticality Analysis, System Requirements Hazard Analysis (SRHA), System-of-Systems Hazard Analysis (SoSHA), etc. Perform operational analysis to identify potential deficiencies in operating procedures, training documentation, maintenance procedures, and/or storage and handling procedures Perform tasks focused on the development of software safety analysis, test, and contribution to potential safety risk. Perform analysis of requirements, architecture, design, human-systems factors, and verification results as part of hazard analysis Review and make recommendations to test plans to ensure safety requirements are met. Assess Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) and other system change requests to identify/verify safety risks. Collaborate with government vendors during the development of weapons systems.
