SNC is on the lookout for a Systems Engineer with expertise in sensor systems to support the design, integration, and validation of advanced mission systems on airborne platforms. In this dynamic role, you will engage in the full lifecycle of these systems, from initial concept development and lab verification to testing and deployment of qualified flight hardware. You will collaborate with diverse, cross-disciplinary teams, oversee supplier subcontracts, manage system requirements, and deliver innovative solutions that meet stringent performance, safety, and certification standards.   • Support system design and Architecture for IR Sensor Systems: Oversee the design and architecture of infrared sensor systems, ensuring they meet project specifications and objectives.
  • Requirements Management: Effectively manage system requirements throughout the project lifecycle to ensure alignment with stakeholder needs.
  • Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including software, electrical, and optical engineers.
  • System Integration and Testing: Support the integration and testing phases to ensure seamless functionality and performance of the sensor systems in both laboratory and final integration.
  • Compliance and Reliability: Help ensure that all systems comply with relevant standards and certifications, and are reliable under operational conditions.
  • ICD Creation: Support the develop and manage Interface Control Documents (ICDs) to clearly define system interfaces.
  • Support in Performance Analysis: Assist in the analysis of system performance to identify areas for improvement and ensure optimal operation.
  • Defining Sensor Interfaces: Support in the definition of sensor interfaces to ensure compatibility and integration with other system components.
  • Bachelor's of Science degree in System Engineering or related discipline and typically 10 or more years of relevant experience
  • Higher education may substitute for relevant experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of engineering principles and practices
  • Experience working in multi-disciplinary design and development teams
  • Thorough understanding of requirements management, functional requirements parsing, derivation, and allocation; systems design, systems integration, technical risk identification and management strategies, and Verification and Validation (V&V) principles
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret U.S. Security Clearance is required
  • Systems Engineering Expertise: Proven experience in systems engineering for complex, multidisciplinary projects.
  • Strong understanding of the systems engineering life cycle.
  • Proficiency in requirements management, system architecture, and integration processes.
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities and deliver results within specified timelines.
  • Experience or certification in INCOSE standards
  • Domain Knowledge: Working knowledge of long-range munitions, ISR capabilities, or electro-optical subsystems systems.
  • Familiarity with the unique challenges and requirements associated with these technologies.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to conduct detailed trade studies and system performance analyses.
  • General understanding of modeling and simulation tools relevant to the domain (examples include: MATLAB, Simulink, STK, ANSYS).
  • Collaboration and Leadership: Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Experience preparing and presenting technical reports, proposals, and briefings.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Proven leadership skills with experience mentoring and guiding junior engineers.
  • Regulatory and Compliance Knowledge: Familiarity with industry standards and regulatory requirements relevant to defense and aerospace systems
  • Experience ensuring compliance with customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Knowledge and experience with radiometric modeling
  • Working knowledge of missiles/munitions and associated subsystems
  • Knowledge of image processing techniques
  • Proficiency in an analytical toolchains/languages (e.g., MATLAB, Python)
  • Model development and validation relevant to EO/IR remote sensing
  • Proficient and/or experience in laboratory or Systems Integration Lab (SIL).
  • Experience with image processing techniques for EO/IR sensors
  • Working knowledge of military airborne platform subsystems: Navigation, comms, propulsion, avionics, power, mission system, flight controls etc.
  • Experience with MBSE techniques/approach (e.g. Cameo, SysML, etc)
  • Experience with signature and/or scenario modeling/software packages (MODTRAN, SPIRITS, AFSIM)
  • Experience with government reference architectures and the OMS/UCI standard
  • Experience with missions system environmental qualification
  • Knowledge of Agile development process and tools like JIRA
