Position Overview: The Senior Systems Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, and management of enterprise infrastructure systems with a focus on virtualization, storage, and physical datacenter operations. This role requires deep expertise in VMware technologies, hands-on experience maintaining physical servers and supporting data center environments, and strong scripting skills to automate processes and improve efficiency. The ideal candidate is a highly technical professional who can bridge on-premise infrastructure with modern hybrid or cloud-based environments while ensuring high availability, performance, and security.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• 7+ years of progressive systems engineering experience in enterprise environments.
• 5+ years of experience managing VMware environments (vSphere, vCenter, ESXi).
• Strong hands-on experience with physical datacenter operations (rack/stack, cabling, hardware diagnostics).
• Proficiency in scripting and automation (PowerShell, Python, Bash, etc.).
• VMware vSphere, vCenter, ESXi, and vSAN.
• Windows and/or Linux server administration.
• Familiarity with SAN/NAS storage, backup systems, and monitoring tools.
• Networking fundamentals (VLANs, routing, IP addressing).
• Must be locally located and comfortable working a 3 days in office hybrid model and 2 days remote

Nice To Haves

• VMware Certified Professional (VCP) or higher.
• Experience with Dell, HPE, or Cisco UCS server hardware.
• Knowledge of datacenter power and cooling best practices.
• Experience implementing security hardening and compliance controls.
• Strong documentation, communication, and cross-team collaboration skills.
• Understanding of configuration management or infrastructure-as-code principles (e.g., Ansible, Terraform) is a plus.
• Experience with hybrid or cloud-integrated infrastructure (Azure, AWS, or GCP) is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain enterprise virtualization environments using VMware vSphere, vCenter, and ESXi.
• Manage and maintain physical datacenter assets including rack-and-stack, cabling, hardware lifecycle management, and environmental monitoring.
• Develop and maintain automation scripts (PowerShell, Python, or similar) for provisioning, configuration management, and monitoring.
• Monitor system performance, capacity, and availability; proactively identify and remediate potential issues.
• Collaborate with network, storage, and security teams to ensure cohesive infrastructure design and integration.
• Support disaster recovery and business continuity strategies, including replication and backup validation.
• Document configurations, standards, and operational procedures; maintain an accurate inventory of systems and components.
• Lead or participate in infrastructure upgrade and migration projects.
• Provide Tier 3 support for complex system issues and mentor junior engineers.
