About The Position

The Senior Systems Engineer under general supervision, assists in analyzing, planning, implementing, maintaining, troubleshooting, securing and enhancing complex systems or networks consisting of a combination that may include servers (physical, virtual and cloud), cloud services, LANS / WANs, Fabrics, storage arrays, and the physical and logical components that integrate these systems together as an enterprise networking backbone or platform.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent job-related experience.
  • 7 or more years of experience in the following areas: vSphere, VMWare virtualization software including ESX 7, SAN Administration, Active Directory administration including GPO design and implementation & MS Windows-based servers.
  • Experience with Access and Identity management.
  • Azure cloud infrastructure certifications or equivalent experience.
  • CCNA, CCNP, MCSE or other certifications.
  • Firewall experience with firewalls such as (SonicWALL, Cisco, Fortinet)
  • Experience with Cisco switches and routers
  • Excellent analytical and Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent documentation skills using Visio and run books.
  • Solid knowledge of Layer 2 and Layer 3 internetworking technologies
  • Capable of designing a detailed project plan and working project to completion.
  • Knowledge of internetworking designs and their applications and routing
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Good communication skills.

  • Must be able to work well in team environment with occasional team lead responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Leads the day-to-day operational support for server, storage or network infrastructures.
  • Builds, patches, tests (check for compatibility issues, conducts QA) and deploys complex systems and platforms meeting clients’ needs and specifications.
  • Perform proof of concept design and testing for new products.
  • Leads in planning and implementing changes to infrastructure with the goal of enhancing performance, resilience and security.
  • Hands-on IP router/switch/telephony equipment
  • Engineer Windows system solutions for various project and operational needs.
  • Install new/rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.
  • Performs complex storage and server data backup, data migration and disaster recovery operations.
  • Proven experience and success with LAN, WAN, and WLAN design and implementation.
  • Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.
  • Perform regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions.
  • Proven experience with network capacity planning, network security principles and general network management best practices.
  • Performs complex software and operating system upgrades and track system licensing.
  • Configures security settings or access permissions for groups and individuals.
  • Provides tier III level technical support to the help desk to resolve complex problems related to network or platform performance.
  • Documents complex procedures and troubleshooting procedures related to systems/networks, security, software and hardware.
  • Provides technical guidance and assistance to other IS Engineers and IS Administrators.
  • Resolves problems with minimal supervision and assistance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
