The Sr. Systems Engineer reports to the General Manager Sales and Engineering Technology Systems Engineer is responsible for designing and developing standard and customized software solutions of Gleason Metrology Systems. Provide technical leadership in the area of software development and advise software engineers on the overall software system design and architecture. Need to have detailed understanding or gauging, servo and other electro-mechanical subsystems for metrology machine. Test, install and ensure documentation is correct for software programs. Troubleshoot customer problems reported from the field in a timely manner. Responsible for participating in and/or for leading project engineering teams to complete above duties. Design, prototype, develop and document manufacturing of systems combining mechanical, electrical, electronics and software. The primary focus is on the application and control software and its interaction with the entire electro-mechanical system including motion control and probing hardware. Design, develop and maintain the motion control system for GMS products working closely with the suppliers. Responsible for establishing and documenting servo tuning procedures, training and supporting production and service personnel on tuning related issues. Design and develop motion control systems for new product development working closely with the mechanical and electrical engineering teams. Provide input on the controllability of mechanical subsystems in the machine design phase. Independently manage custom software projects. This includes interacting with customers to develop detailed project scope, involving other systems software engineers as necessary, maintaining project schedule and providing updates to both internal and external customers. Develop new technology including non-contact sensors and implement software solutions for new productions using Gleason NPD process. Provide necessary software support to all assigned products.
