About The Position

The Systems Engineer, Senior is a senior level position that works independently to design, implement, administer and support critical, high transactional systems that have direct customer, revenue and/or compliance impact. Mentors and shares technical expertise with less experienced systems engineers.

Requirements

  • BS Computer Science or a related field or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • 5 to 7 years of prior working experience in systems engineering or related in a medium or large organization.

Nice To Haves

  • 3 or more years of experience building, scaling and managing container orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes, EKS, Openshift Container Platform (OCP).
  • Demonstrated experience with Infrastructure as code, technologies such as Terraform or Cloud Formation.
  • 3 or more years of experience building, deploying and managing AWS services.
  • Proficiency in at least 1 scripting language such as Bash, Python, Github Actions – bonus if you have proficiency with NodeJS, Go, and/or Java.

Responsibilities

  • Implements infrastructure systems and components in support of business and IT applications such as hardware, servers, software, and appliances.
  • Independently conducts implementations that include installation, configuration, update, documentation and knowledge transfer.
  • Analyzes, diagnoses, isolates and identifies system problems.
  • Creates short term solutions to alleviate problem symptoms and identifies root causes.
  • Contributes to compliance related activities such as reporting, baseline and verifications.
  • Participates in application development process by reviewing non-functional requirements and proposing, designing, and delivering supporting infrastructure.
  • Occasionally manages small scale IT projects or exercises technical leadership to oversee architecture design and validation.
  • Shares knowledge and mentors less experienced staff.
  • Initiates, promotes, and exemplifies best practices in areas of capacity, asset/inventory, configuration, update, procurement, and vendor engagement.
  • Develops, designs, tests, and documents improvement solutions and processes aimed to improve system’s efficiency, reliability, scalability, and cost effectiveness.

  • Cordially and professionally interacts with customers, vendors, superiors and peers.
  • Regular attendance on a full-time schedule of at least 8 hours and 40 hours per week.
