About The Position

The Senior System Administrator at RTX Corporation is responsible for providing IT systems administration in a mixed environment of Microsoft Windows and Redhat Enterprise Linux. This role involves developing, implementing, and maintaining secure environments for classified programs, collaborating with program teams to define computing requirements, and solving complex IT infrastructure problems. The position requires a proactive approach to troubleshooting and a commitment to maintaining security standards while providing documentation and training on advanced IT processes.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a bachelor's degree.
  • Minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Must be able to obtain transferable U.S. government issued secret security clearance prior to start date.
  • Must have Linux or Windows experience.
  • Experience with Active Directory, VMware, Administration, backup, and recovery.

Nice To Haves

  • Department of Defense Directive (DoDD) 8140 / 8570 Certification requirements (CompTIA Security+ CE or equivalent certification and an Operating System Certification).
  • Experience with NISPOM, JAFAN, JSIG, DFARS and/or DoD/RMF.
  • Experience with data storage, NAS, and SAN technologies and solutions.
  • Experience using Information Technology project lifecycle management processes.
  • Experience using VMWare vCenter, vSphere, and ESX and/or other virtual computing methods.
  • High Performance Computing (HPC) experience in a Linux environment.
  • Scripting Experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide IT systems administration in a heterogeneous Microsoft Windows and Redhat Enterprise Linux environment.
  • Understand and apply knowledge of Windows Server internals or Linux fundamentals including DNS, DHCP, AD, and server replication methods.
  • Work as a team member in a fast-paced technological environment and use troubleshooting techniques to resolve technical problems of moderate to high complexity.
  • Install and configure software applications requested by end users.
  • Collaborate with Cybersecurity professionals to maintain security requirements.
  • Provide documentation and training on advanced IT processes and procedures.
