About The Position

Kiewit Infrastructure Engineering has an opening for a highly Experienced Structural Engineer in our Temporary Works Group. The ideal candidate will be a part of a growing team that supports all aspects of the construction process by performing innovative design engineering through brainstorming conceptual designs, performing and/or reviewing structural calculations, developing plans, scheduling tasks to meet client needs, as well as mitigating risk to keep our construction crews safe. Our Temporary Works Group consists of innovative design engineers whose expertise in designing and building temporary structures adds value to the success of Kiewit's projects. Our Temporary works group supports design-build tasks that include: Bridge erection & demolition, Cofferdam design, Critical crane lifts, Erection sequencing & staged construction analysis, Hoisting and jacking, Deep foundations and dewatering, Excavation support, Marine engineering, Pile drive analysis, Ductwork analysis, Falsework design, Temporary bridge & trestle, estimate support, Working surface design, On-site engineering support.

Requirements

• Experience with temporary structures and/or construction engineering.
• Accredited Bachelor of Science degree in Civil or Structural Engineering; Master's degree preferred.
• 15+ years of relevant engineering experience.
• Professional Engineer licensure or eligibility within the United States.
• Strong academic knowledge of structural engineering.
• Experience with engineering design software such as AutoCAD, BlueBeam, MathCAD, Navisworks, RISA-3D.
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
• Strong inter-personal skills and ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
• Ability to organize and handle multiple project assignments.
• Ability to travel/TDY assignments and/or relocate based on business needs.
• Ability to access all points of a construction site in various climates.

Responsibilities

• Develop drawings and calculations for temporary works and construction methods including heavy lift plans, erection procedures, and evaluation of existing structures.
• Perform structural analysis to ensure stability during temporary conditions of new structures.
• Support excavation systems or cofferdams for construction below grade.
• Design temporary bridges, trestles, work platforms, and fall protection systems.
• Perform and/or review calculations and design drawings according to industry codes and standards.
• Ensure quality and accuracy of design deliverables.
• Help identify design risks and assist with risk mitigation planning.
• Assist in Project Management including budgets, schedules, and client communication.
• Provide on-site design engineering support and inspections.
• Train and mentor E.I.T.'s.
