About The Position

As a Sr. Staff Software Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the technical direction of cloud-based solutions at GE Healthcare. You’ll lead the design and development of complex, scalable systems and services, driving architectural decisions and setting engineering standards across teams. Your work will influence early-stage product strategy and long-term platform evolution, ensuring robust, secure, and high-performing solutions that meet the needs of our global healthcare customers. You will collaborate closely with product, research, and engineering leaders to define and execute on technical roadmaps, mentor senior engineers, and foster a culture of innovation and excellence. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 10+ years of professional software development experience, including deep expertise in full stack development.
  • 5+ years of experience architecting and building scalable, distributed systems and cloud-native applications using modern frameworks and platforms (e.g., React, Angular, Node.js, Java, Python, AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Proven track record of leading cross-functional engineering efforts and delivering complex software systems at scale.
  • Strong experience mentoring senior engineers and influencing engineering culture and practices.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience driving architectural decisions across multiple teams or product lines.
  • Deep understanding of big data systems, analytics platforms, containerized microservices, serverless functions, and event-driven architectures.
  • Experience working directly with executive stakeholders and customers to shape product and technical strategy.
  • Expertise in building and scaling production systems with high availability, performance, and security requirements.
  • Strong communication and storytelling skills to articulate technical vision and influence stakeholders.
  • Experience leading Agile development processes and driving engineering execution across multiple teams.
  • Recognized as a technical thought leader within the organization or industry.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of complex full stack systems that solve high-impact business problems across multiple teams or domains.
  • Define and drive architectural vision for scalable, secure, and maintainable full stack solutions—spanning frontend, backend, APIs, data layers, and cloud infrastructure.
  • Partner with senior leadership, architects, and product stakeholders to align engineering strategy with business goals.
  • Influence technical direction across multiple teams, ensuring consistency in design patterns, engineering practices, and technology choices.
  • Own the delivery of critical software initiatives, guiding teams through ambiguity and ensuring high-quality execution.
  • Mentor senior engineers and staff-level contributors, fostering a culture of technical excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Lead design reviews and architecture forums, setting standards and driving adoption of best practices across the organization.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and frameworks, and guide their adoption to improve developer productivity, system performance, and customer experience.
  • Champion engineering excellence through rigorous testing, automation, observability, and operational maturity.
