Your Career The Threat Research Engineering team specializes in providing tools that empower researchers across the company to work more efficiently. Our team bridges the gap between modern application development best practices and the world-class research teams within Palo Alto Networks. This role will challenge you to become a true force-multiplier, partnering with our researchers through designing and building threat-centric application workflows, process automations, and the creation of intelligent data architectures that enable the analysis and exploration of threat intelligence and telemetry data at scale Your Impact As an engineer on the Threat Research Engineering team, you will contribute directly to the tools and systems that empower our threat research community:

  • Implement REST APIs and workflows using Python: You will integrate with diverse data stores (e.g., SQL, Spanner, BigQuery), systems that manage petabytes of critical threat data.
  • Contribute to the development and enhancement of intuitive web-based applications using React: You will assist in building the user interfaces that help researchers visualize and analyze complex threat intelligence.
  • Team Collaboration: Actively partner with other development teams and stakeholders to understand technical specifications and ensure smooth integration of systems and feature dependencies.
  • Deployment and DevOps: Participate in our release cycles and use continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) practices.
  • Strong understanding and usage of Python, SQL, and working knowledge of one or more non-relational databases such as ElasticSearch, Cassandra, BigQuery, etc.
  • Experience with Google Cloud Spanner and Google Cloud Storage is a plus
  • Strong background in developing JS based frontends, preferably in React
  • Experience developing container based applications using tools such as Docker and Kubernetes
  • Demonstrated full stack programming capability and desire to mature an idea or feature from pseudo-code to a minimum viable product
  • Creation of, and integration with REST APIs. Experience with Flask, FastAPI or other Python frameworks
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with cloud environments such as AWS or GCP is a plus
  • Background or interest in threat intelligence and applied security is a plus
